Awards Rules

The society formally presents the recipients of the following awards during the annual general assembly. Each award bestowed by the society is described below; however, not all awards are presented each year

Medals
The Ophthalmological Golden Medal:

This award acknowledges the continuing services of a highly distinguished ophthalmologist that have contributed to the advancement of ophthalmology, blindness prevention, and the society activities

The medal is given once during life; however, one or more medals can be presented at each meeting.The recipient of the medal is promoted by the society council, ophthalmology department in the Egyptian universities, research institutes, or ministry of health

Prizes:
  • The Mohamed Sobhi Prize:

    The winning paper is a published article in the Bulletin of the Ophthalmological Society of Egypt (Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt). The recipient must be an active member of the society under 40 years of age

  • The Ibrahim Ahmed Mohamed Prize:

    This prize recognizes the best work in the field of Ophthalmia. The paper should be submitted by an ophthalmologist under the age of 40 years, who is an active member of the society. The chosen article is published in “ Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt”

  • The Ahmed Abdel-Reheim Fahmy Prize:

    This prize is given to the best paper published in the” Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt”, in the field of Ophthalmic Surgery. The winner should be an active member of the society under 40 years of age.

  • The Yehia El-Gammal Prize:

    The prize recognizes the best work in the field of ophthalmic microsurgery or Ophthalmic Pathology. The paper should be published in the “Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt” by an active member of the society under the age of 40 years.

  • The kamel Sabri Kamel Prize:

    This prize is given to the best article published in the “Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt” in the field of ophthalmic diagnostics. The winner should be an active member of the society under 40 years of age.

  • The M. Abdel Moneim Labib Prize:

    This prize recognizes the best work published in the “Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt” in the field of Glaucoma. The paper should be submitted by an ophthalmologist who is an active member of the society, under 40 years of age.

  • The Sabri kamel Prize:

    This prize is given to the best work in the field of cataract management. It should be published in the “Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt”, by an active member of the society, under the age of 40 years.

  • The Amin El-Maghrabi Prize:

    This prize is given to the best article published in the “Bull Ophthalmol Soc, Egypt”. The winner should be an active member of the society under the age of 40 years.

  • The Wedad Saeed Prize:

    The prize is given to the best article published in the Bull Ophthalmol Soc. Egypt in squint. The winner should be under the age of 40 years.

  • The Adham Ayoub Prize:

    The prize is given to the best article published in the Bull Ophthalmol Soc. Egypt,, in Cataract surgery. The winner should be under the age of 40 years.

  • The Salwa Eid Prize:

    The prize is given to the best article published in the Bull Ophthalmol Soc. Egypt,, in prevention of corneal blindness. The winner should be under the age of 40 years.

  • The Mohamed el Aswad Prize:

    The prize is given to the best article published in the Bull Ophthalmol Soc. Egypt,,in Refractive surgery (including I.O.L implantation and cataract). The winner should be under the age of 40 years.

  • The Karem Kolkailah Prize

    The prize is given to the best article published in the Bull Ophthalmol Soc. Egypt.
